Tips

Choose High-Quality Ingredients: The quality of your cacao hot chocolate heavily relies on the ingredients you use. Select high-quality raw cocoa powder to ensure a deep, authentic chocolate flavor. Similarly, choose natural sweeteners like raw honey, maple syrup, or coconut sugar for a healthier, more refined taste.

Dissolve the Cocoa Powder Properly: To avoid lumps, make a paste with the cocoa powder and a small amount of hot water or your choice of milk alternative. Whisk until smooth before adding the rest of the hot liquid.

Sweeten to Taste: While the suggested sweetener is a good starting point, adjust according to your preference. Remember, the sweetness of raw honey, maple syrup, and coconut sugar can vary, so start with less and add more as needed.

Incorporate Vanilla Extract: Pure vanilla extract adds a layer of complexity to your hot chocolate. Make sure to use it sparingly; a little goes a long way in enhancing the overall flavor without overwhelming the chocolate.

Experiment with Chili Flakes: Adding chili flakes is optional but can provide a delightful warmth and spice that contrasts beautifully with the richness of the chocolate. Start with a pinch and adjust to your spice tolerance. It’s best to add them with the cocoa powder to ensure they infuse the drink evenly.

Heat Gently: When heating your mixture, do so gently over low to medium heat. This prevents the milk alternative from scalding and helps maintain the integrity of the raw cocoa’s flavor.

Stir Regularly: Continuous stirring helps mix the ingredients thoroughly, prevents the cocoa from settling at the bottom, and ensures an even heat distribution.

Serve Immediately: Cacao hot chocolate is best enjoyed fresh off the stove. Pour it into your favorite mug and savor the warmth and depth of flavor. Top it with a sprinkle of cocoa powder or a few more chili flakes for an extra touch.

Personalize Your Drink: Feel free to personalize your hot chocolate. Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a spicy twist or a dollop of whipped coconut cream for richness.
